Grand & Reserve Grand Champion Honors at the 57th Western National Angus Futurity went to Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Texas, as the largest crowd in recent years gathered to watch herds from coast to coast, border to border and Canada compete at this super ROV show. This year’s event will long be remembered as the year of change. The new show headquarters at the Grand Sierra Resort was a super hit among Juniors and Seniors alike coupled with the very entertaining and enjoyable Honky Tonk Laundry, made this 2009 WNAF one to remember. The draw down ticket sales were challenging, but by Sunday afternoon all 200 tickets were sold with the five finalists coming from our Western States area. The last number to be drawn was that of Carol Thompson, Potlach, ID who won the $2,000 prize. In second position were Rich & Claudia Hutchings, Fallon, NV. Honored at this 2009 event was the long time Futurity friend and sound person Larry Kirk, Reno, NV. Crowned the new Western States Angus Association Queen was Bethany Cobb, from Nine Mile Falls, Washington.

All in all, those that attended the 2009 Western National Angus Futurity experienced a full filled three days. Troy Van Rockel, Hillsboro, OR was elected the new WSAA President to lead the organization in 2009 & 2010. Congratulations goes out to all the winners and a special thanks to all the exhibitors, spectators, supporters and helpers at this 57th event.
