The American Angus Association, the
nation’s largest beef registry association with more than 32,000
adult and junior members, announces that, effective immediately,
it will begin to accept
applications for the position of Chief Executive Officer.
Candidates should have demonstrated knowledge of all segments of
the beef industry, from seedstock production through consumption.
Such knowledge should include a thorough understanding of member
services, branded beef programs, publication and promotion,
genetic evaluation and procedures, and a recognition of the
importance of how industry and the breed both benefit from the
involvement of our youth.
The Chief Executive Officer serves as the chief administrative
officer of the American Angus Association and also serves as the
Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of each of the
Association’s subsidiaries: Angus Productions Inc., Certified
Angus Beef LLC, Angus Genetics Inc., and the Angus Foundation.
These combined entities currently have assets totaling in excess
of $33.7 million. Additionally, this individual performs those
duties associated with the position that are delineated in
Article VI, Section 6.8 of the Association’s Bylaws. Reporting
directly to the Board of Directors, the CEO also develops and
recommends to the Board those policies, plans and programs that
will effectively meet the needs and the challenges of the
membership, and that will enhance the growth and reputation of the
Angus breed and the American Angus Association. Lastly, the
position is responsible for overseeing the performance of some 200
employees. In short, the CEO must be able to run a sophisticated,
dynamic business.
Candidates shall have obtained an
undergraduate degree in an agriculture-related field or in
business. Education and training in animal science or animal
husbandry would be viewed as a positive. It is essential that
candidates possess excellent communication skills, sufficient to
permit them to interact easily and effectively with the
Association’s diverse membership, industry peers, academicians,
professional staff members and the Board.
