The American Angus Auxiliary honored
Jane Ebert, Sparta, N.C., and Yvonne Hinman, Malta, Mont., with
Distinguished Women Awards during the Auxiliary breakfast Nov. 11,
2007 in conjunction with the organization’s annual meeting in
Louisville, Ky. The Distinguished Woman Award honors members of
the Auxiliary who have demonstrated noteworthy service and support
for the Auxiliary and the Angus breed. An award recipient is
recommended by the Auxiliary’s Distinguished Women Committee;
recipients of this prestigious award are honorary members of the
American Angus Auxiliary.
Ebert and Hinman were honored for their leadership and service to
the Auxiliary, specifically for their creative contributions. Both
women established the Auxiliary’s “Excellence, No Exception”
Conference and guided the expansion of scholarship support and
opportunities for Angus youth. Their leadership also created new
opportunities for the online “Angus Sale Barn” and the Holiday
Room. Both the Angus Sale Barn and Holiday Room sell unique
Angus-themed merchandise, including Angus China and Harvey Rattey
bronzes, that help fund the Auxiliary and Auxiliary-sponsored
events.
In addition to their involvement
with the Auxiliary, Ebert and Hinman are active in their local
Auxiliaries and the Angus industry. Ebert has been involved with
the American Angus Auxiliary since 1988 and has served on various
committees of the Auxiliary, including the Auxiliary-sponsored,
All-American Certified Angus Beef® Cook-off. She also organized
the North Carolina Angus Auxiliary. Ebert and her husband, Bill,
own Eberlee Farms located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North
Carolina. They have one daughter, Betsie Ebert Michael, who
operates Coldwater Creek Farm, Staunton, Va., with her husband,
Jason.
Hinman has served both the
American and Montana Angus Auxiliaries. She is currently the
Harvey Rattey chairperson for the American Angus Auxiliary, and a
past president of the Montana Angus Auxiliary. Hinman and her
husband, Dave, operate Hinman Angus, located in north central
Montana. They have two daughters—Heidi Lulloff who resides in
Malta, Mont., with her husband and two children, and Jill Hamilton
who resides in Three Forks, Mont., with her husband and two
children.
The American Angus Auxiliary
consists of individuals interested in the welfare of the Angus
breed. Its members work to provide educational activities for
junior Angus members, such as scholarship programs, awards and
competitions. For more information about the American Angus
